European Stroke Organisation (ESO)

The European Stroke Organisation (ESO) is a Paneuropean society of stroke researchers, national and regional stroke societies and lay people organisations that has been founded in December 2007.
The aim of the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) are widely identical with these of EUSI: to reduce the incidence and impact of stroke by changing the ways that stroke is viewed and treated. This can only be achieved by professional and public education, and by making institutional changes.
The ESO provides assistance in achieving this goal and to harmonise stroke management across the whole of Europe.
The BSC is a member of the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) and the World Stroke Organisation (WSO). STROKE is a member of the Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE).
The Belgian Stroke Council
http://www.belgianstrokecouncil.com/Home
It is necessary that Belgian medical doctors, interested in stroke, collaborate together, not only from a pure scientific point of view but also in order to be able to inform general practitioners on the changing concepts in stroke and to attract the attention of the public on the alarming signs. This would best be done in an organised scientific association. The Belgian Stroke Council groups together not only neurologists but also cardiologists, vascular surgeons, neuroradiologists, and also specialists in geriatrics, rehabilitation and intensive care. This initiative is supported by the Belgian Society of Neurology.
