Only 1 out of 4 EU citizens are aware of 112 as the European emergency number
EU - At European level, still only 1 out of 4 citizens are aware of 112 as the emergency number to dial all over the EU. Moreover, this figure has been stagnating for years and it varies significantly across European countries. Thus, more than 25 countries of Europe are organising awareness raising activities on the occasion of the European 112 Day 2013, observed on 11 February every year since 2009.
"Each year, more than 150 million people travel all over the EU, they should all know 112! But for 5 years 3 out of 4 European citizens are still not aware that they can dial 112 all over Europe. Now it is time to go ahead; we cannot wait 5 more years to make European citizens aware of such a vital number!"

The 112 Foundation
The 112 Foundation was created to save lives by promoting the knowledge and appropriate use of the European emergency number 112. The 112 Foundation was proposed and established by EENA - the European Emergency Number Association - in cooperation with its Advisory Board. Its main objective is to offer campaign materials to all citizens and organisations willing to inform and educate on the 112.
